Location: Oceanside, CA Job Type: Part-Time Closing Date: Continuous The college is accepting applications to build a pool of instructors for possible future part-time assignments teaching NURS 60 - Certified Nursing Assistant (lecture and/or clinical). The department chairperson or designee will review applications only if vacancies become available. NURS 60 - Certified Nursing Assistant: This course covers basic nursing skills, including fundamentals of nursing, nutrition, gerontology, and home nursing. Upon successful completion of the course, students may seek employment in long-term and skilled nursing facilities, acute care, and in-home care. Instructors may be assigned to any campus or authorized facility (e.g., local skilled nursing facilities). Assignments may include days, evenings, or weekends. Applications are valid through June 30, 2024, at which time they will expire. A new posting for this pool will be posted on July 1, 2024 and those still interested will need to reapply at that time. RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all associate faculty employees to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two-hundred (200) road miles from the employee's regularly assigned district worksite. The purpose of the policy is to promote efficiency and continuity throughout all campus administrative functions, provide students with high quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure that students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs. Associate faculty who have a fully online assignment with the District must reside within the state of California, but may live beyond two-hundred (200) road miles from their designated District worksite without requiring the exception detailed below. The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months. All degrees and units used to satisfy the minimum qualifications must be from postsecondary institutions accredited by an accreditation agency recognized by either the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. Twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing (submit course certificate or transcript) completed within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program. Courses must be approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or administered by an accredited educational institution. AND Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
