Senior User Researcher
We're building Walmart Data Ventures from the ground up, and Design Research is critical to our foundation. Our data products serve millions of customers, suppliers, and associates across our unique user ecosystem. Join our mission of crafting world class data experiences with them, for them. We balance discovery with delivery to establish north stars while delivering incremental value to our customers. As a Senior User Researcher, you'll help define and lead research strategy and execution. We work hard to understand the people we're designing for, and to deliver useful and usable products that delight. You'll work alongside partners in Product Design, Product Management, Data Science, and Engineering to deeply understand how users think and act and translate those insights into clear recommendations that guide product and experience strategy. What you'll do: Lead strategic and tactical research projects, conducting studies from generative research to usability testing to inform and refine product and experience direction Apply diverse research methods such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and ethnographic studies to uncover how users navigate the full-service experience, across systems, tools and people Leverage user findings and stakeholder input to identify pain points, opportunities, and unmet needs across channels Translate research into actionable frameworks such as journey maps, service blueprints, and opportunity maps that help teams build a shared understanding and drive decision making Partner with product teams to identify research questions, design studies, and inform product strategy and design decisions Foster a culture of user empathy and human-centered design across the company to help teams prioritize user needs Identify and communicate high-value opportunities for teams to focus on and drive toward Facilitate workshops that bring cross-functional teams together to align on research findings, co-create future-state journeys, and drive prioritization Encourage non-research team members to actively participate in the research process, fostering a shared understanding of user needs Qualifications: Expertise in a variety of research methods, such as usability studies, interviews, surveys, user testing, and ethnographic research Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and influence product strategy and design decisions Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously Deep understanding of human-centered design and product development Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of professional research experience, or master's degree with 3-5 years of professional research experience, or 7+ years of professional research experience Work samples that showcase your research experience and approach Bonus points for service design experience/interest Perks and benefits: Beyond competitive pay, this role is eligible to receive incentive awards based on performance.
