The Financial Controller will oversee the financial operations of a privately-held company providing specialized services to the oil and gas industry. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with industry regulations, and strategic financial planning to support the company’s growth and operational efficiency. The Financial Controller will lead the finance and accounting team, manage budgeting processes, and provide actionable insights to senior management to drive profitability in a dynamic and competitive industry.
*Key Responsibilities*
*Financial Reporting and Compliance*
* Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), as applicable. * Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings, audits, and industry-specific reporting requirements. * Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring all financial records are accurate and audit-ready. * Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
*Budgeting and Forecasting*
* Develop, manage, and monitor annual budgets and financial forecasts, aligning with the company’s strategic objectives and operational needs. * Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to leadership on budget performance and cost-saving opportunities. * Collaborate with operational teams to create project-specific budgets and/or analyses, ensuring accurate cost allocation and profitability tracking.
*Strategic Financial Management*
* Partner with senior leadership to develop long-term financial strategies that support growth, including capital investment decisions and cost optimization in operations. * Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in relation to overall market conditions.
*Team Leadership and Development*
* Lead, mentor, and develop accounts payable and finance teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure accuracy and efficiency in all processes. * Implement training programs to keep the team updated on industry-specific financial practices and emerging technologies.
*Technology and Process Improvement*
* Leverage financial software and ERP systems to streamline accounting processes and improve reporting accuracy. * Drive the adoption of data analytics tools to enhance financial forecasting and decision-making. * Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency within the finance department.
*Qualifications*
*Education and Experience*
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or CPA designation strongly preferred. * Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting; management experience strongly preferred. * Proven track record of managing financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
*Skills and Competencies*
* Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and industry-specific financial regulations. * Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis. * Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data analytics tools is a plus. * Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy. * Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
