DescriptionJob Name: Machinist Reports to: Machine Shop Supervisor Classification: Full Time/Non-Exempt Job Summary:The Machinist is responsible for setting up, and operating machinery to produce the necessary parts while maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Works under general supervision; relies on experience and general instructions to perform the functions of the job.Supervisory Responsibilities:•None Duties/Responsibilities:•Determine the proper tools and machining sequences necessary to produce quality parts •Inspecting finished parts to ensure they are in specified tolerances •Performs regular, preventative maintenance on machinery in the machine shop •Maintain a clean and organized work area•Performs duties consistent with safety rules and procedures•Performs other duties as required Required Skills/Abilities: •Must be able to operate surface grinder, I.D. and O.D grinders; manual lathes; vertical and horizontal milling machines; drill press. •Must be able to hold tolerances of .0005 or tighter.•Demonstrate ability to read blueprints, technical diagrams, and operating manuals. •Must be able to use precision measuring instruments.•Must be able to read and understand the metric system.•Must have good verbal and written communication skills. •Must be able to produce work in a timely-manner and meet deadlines. •Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. •Must have good organizational skills and be detail-oriented.•Must be able to work as a team and collaborate with co-workers.•Ability to work at a rapid pace with accuracy to repair or make parts and minimize production downtime. •Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English; ability read and write English•Ability to identify safety issues in their work area.•Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process.•Knowledge of mig, tig, arc welding a plus. •Knowledge of Haas, Mazak and Proto-Trak CNC a plus. Education and Experience:•High school education or equivalent required. •Minimum of 2 years work experience of manual machining experience •Experience using hand and power tools. Physical Requirements: •Must be able to lift up to 50 to 75 pounds. •Requires frequent standing, walking, carrying, climbing, bending, stooping and reaching.
