Sr. HVAC Technician - JLL
What this job involves
You'll be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of complex HVAC and mechanical systems in a commercial facility. This role requires expertise in air handling equipment, refrigeration systems, chillers, boilers, and electrical systems. You'll ensure all systems function efficiently while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
What your day-to-day will look like
- Monitor and maintain air handling equipment including filter replacement, differential pressure monitoring, and air balancing
- Operate and troubleshoot specialized refrigeration systems, DX systems, and process/comfort chillers
- Respond to and resolve system alarms during your shift
- Make necessary adjustments to HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, VAV systems, and hot water systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Monitor utility substations and manage high voltage switching and load distribution
- Complete routine facility repairs (sheetrock, patching, painting, lock repair)
- Document work completed and manage inventory of materials and refrigerants
- Collaborate with team members on larger maintenance projects
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC and mechanical systems
- Universal EPA Refrigeration certification
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various positions (bending, climbing, etc.)
- Proficiency with hand tools and equipment specific to HVAC/mechanical work
- Comfort working at heights, in confined spaces, and on lifts/scaffolding
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Fluent English communication (both verbal and written)
- Availability for 24-hour on-call rotation and emergency response
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade license, apprenticeship completion, or vocational certification
- Experience with high voltage electrical systems
- Experience maintaining and repairing centrifugal chillers and cooling towers
- Knowledge of refrigerant management and EPA compliance requirements
- Experience with motor and pump rebuilding
- Experience with electrical controls and motor control centers
- Project estimation skills
- Man lift, scissor lift, forklift certifications
- Experience with confined space entry procedures
Location: Onsite
Work Shift: Monday-Friday 7a-330pm
Compensation: $37.50-43/hr.
