The Chief Accounting Officer (“CAO”) position reports to the CFO and provides leadership for the firm’s accounting employees, directs the firm’s accounting policies and manages monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting cycles. The CAO operates as a key member of the management team and provides regular guidance regarding the financial performance and outlook for the various portfolio companies. Responsibilities include management of day-to-day processes, financials, and internal controls. Candidates must have a CPA and a minimum of 10 years of hands-on, operational accounting experience with an Upstream, E & P, Oil & Gas company – emphasis on Revenue accounting, JIB, AP and GAAP. Strong Excel skills are also required. Experience using OGsys and DocVue is preferred. Candidates must be US citizens .

Key responsibilities will include:

• Recruit, manage, and oversee all accounting departments including direct management of:

Controller, Financial Reporting Manager, and Accounting Manager

• Analyze and present financial data to maximize profits
• Manage the preparation and presentation of monthly accounting reports
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and processes
• Set schedules and balance workloads to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines relating to financial and performance reports
• Regularly examine financial statements and insure they are accurate and free of any errors
• Manage the completion and accuracy of quarterly financial forecasts for portfolio companies
• Establish internal controls and manage external audit
• Supervise preparation of property tax renditions, appraisals, and protests
• Manage federal and state production reporting and taxes
• Oversee treasury management
• Coordinate with Land, Operations, Business Development, and Regulatory groups as required
• Stay abreast of industry changes and current tax/accounting laws

Requirements:

• Candidates are required to have an active CPA license
• Candidates are required to have a minimum of 10+ years Upstream Oil and Gas Exploration & Production accounting experience – emphasis on operational accounting – Revenue, JIB, AP, GAAP
• Detail Oriented
• Works well independently
• Strong Excel Skills
• A willingness to personally dig into the details of accounting matters.
• An understanding of accounting excellence and how accounting adds value.
• Successful at training and coaching team members and leading change.
• Previous experience coordinating across corporate functions, especially land.
• Maintaining an honest and ethical tone-from-the-top.

Preferred:

OGSYS software and DocVue software experience is preferred
