PURPOSE OF DIVISION

Houston Public Works is the largest and most diverse public works organization in the country, serving more than 2.3 million residents every day. We also oversee permitting and regulate both public and private construction to ensure our city is built with safety, sustainability, and resilience in mind. We are driven by a shared commitment to service, innovation, and excellence—working together to build a stronger Houston for today and for generations to come.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Electrical Inspector ensures the safety and compliance of electrical systems across the City of Houston. As part of Houston Public Works, this role conducts inspections, enforces electrical codes, and reviews installations in both residential and commercial settings. Respond to inquiries from residents, contractors, businesses, and design professionals on electrical system concerns and requirements.

Review and interpret electrical plans, specifications, and drawings to prepare for inspections.
