Position Summary:
This position requires the Maintenance Mechanic to perform a variety of duties in around the facility and grounds of the hospital complex to ensure proper operations. The Maintenance Mechanic is capable of diagnosing and correcting problems that are encountered daily and consults with the Support Services leadership when in doubt of corrective measures to be taken. The Maintenance Mechanic performs other duties as assigned.
Job Duties & Essential Functions:
Completes testing, rounds, paperwork, and repairs to equipment daily or as outlined in department policy/procedures.
Keeps mechanical rooms and equipment clean, safe, and running at maximum efficiency.
Participates in Safety Tool Kit Training programs. Safe use of all equipment used to perform tasks.
Works with other staff members to increase knowledge and skills while maintaining a safe, well-run facility.
Completes all tasks such as spackle, paint, motor replacement, etc. in a safe and efficient manner.
Installs wiring, new equipment, refrigeration units, ice machines, etc.
Maintains proper chemistry for treatment of boilers, a/c units, cooling towers, etc.
Adjust operating pressures and temperatures to maintain a comfortable climate. Shows ability to obtain information as needed to make a decision.
Trains and directs maintenance workers as needed.
Enables the hospital to meet or exceed all regulatory and accrediting requirements pertaining to the environment of care.
Maintains all electrical and mechanical equipment as necessary. Takes corrective actions for repairs. Informs Support Services Leadership of status of equipment in need of repair/replacement.
Must participate in on-call rotation.
Maintain professional appearance as designated by department head.
Maintain order and cleanliness.
Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department.
Rotates within the department and by shift as required.
Maintains ethical relationships.
Adheres to hospital and departmental rules and regulations.
Participate in in-service programs.
Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.
Required Education & Qualifications:
High school diploma required.
Trade or Vocational School Diploma preferred.
Five (5) or more years relevant experience in maintenance work/or trade unions required.
Valid New York State driver’s license.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
May be met with the aid of mechanical devices; they are not intended to discriminate against handicapper persons, only to ensure safe working conditions for all persons, Mechanical assistance may not be such that they interfere with normal safety aids (modified if necessary) such as safety googles, hearing protection, etc.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience.
