Navajo Preference Employment Act

In accordance with Navajo Nation and federal law, TCRHCC has implemented an Affirmative Action Plan pursuant to the Navajo Preference in Employment Act. Applicants who meet the necessary qualifications for this position and are enrolled members of the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe, or San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe will be given preference in hiring and employment. Overview POSITION SUMMARY Serves as a Pediatrician (Physician) providing comprehensive medical care for pediatric patients from premature infants to adolescents up to age 18. The care primarily involves common pediatric illnesses, but may also include diagnosing and treating less common illnesses requiring specialist skills. Newborns and pediatric patients with diseases needing critical care diagnosis and stabilization before transfer to a tertiary facility are also cared for.

Qualifications Necessary Qualifications

Medical Degree (MD or DO)

Completion of a three-year residency in Pediatrics

Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. If more than five years out of residency, must be board certified.

Experience Experience in the past three years with Level II newborns and hospitalized pediatric or critically ill patients.

License/Certification

Current, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, D.C., or Puerto Rico.

Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

Credentialing Additional credentialing/privileging for Medical Staff membership is required.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands Must meet physical requirements such as prolonged walking, lifting up to 34 lbs regularly, and occasional lifting over 100 lbs. Mental demands include handling high-stress situations, making decisions under pressure, and working flexible hours including evenings, nights, and weekends. Environmental exposures may include infectious diseases, loud noises, chemicals, and hazardous equipment.

Responsibilities

Conduct outpatient well-child clinics, including history taking, physical exams, and preventive care.

Provide outpatient care for acute and chronic pediatric illnesses, including counseling.

Consult in the emergency department for pediatric cases, including critically ill patients.

Examine hospitalized patients, perform diagnostics, and provide treatment or referrals as needed.

Maintain detailed medical records and communicate with other healthcare providers.

Refer patients to appropriate facilities and coordinate ongoing care.

Collaborate with other health professionals to manage patient care.

Ensure legible handwriting and use of Electronic Health Records.

Adhere to PPE protocols and safety procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.
