Travel RN – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Schedule: (typically every other weekend)
Unit Overview
- Unit Type: ICU
- Beds: 22
- Patient Age Groups: Adults and Geriatrics
- Staffing Ratios: 1:2 (days and nights)
- EMR: Cerner (preferred experience)
- Orientation: 12 billable hours
- Dress Code: Facility-issued scrubs
- Floating: Rarely required; if needed, ICU nurses may float to SDU on the same floor
Clinical Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- 2 years recent ICU experience
- Active RN license in hand at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS (NIHSS preferred)
- Strong cardiac and respiratory management skills
- Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias
- Ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
Key Procedures & Conditions Managed:
- Ventilator and tracheostomy care
- Chest tube support
- CVP and Swan-Ganz monitoring
- Post-cardiac surgery and interventional cardiac procedures
- Sedation management, paralytics, emergency medications
- Stroke care, GI surgery, renal support (CVVHD/CRRT preferred)
Preferred Skills:
- ECMO, Impella, IABP, CABG
- EP pacing, valve replacements, LVAD/RVAD
- Isolation precautions, wound vac
- Phlebotomy, arterial line care
- Stroke and neuro monitoring
Facility Highlights
- Strong interdisciplinary support including PT, RT, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response
- Observed holidays paid at 1.5x multiplier
- Call rate: $6/hour | Call back: 1.5x
- Travel experience not required
- Local candidates accepted at same rate
