Summary
Oversees EHS software, safety programs and Job Specific Training under the direct guidance of the EHS Manager. Investigates all work related injuries under the direct guidance of the EHS manager. Is responsible to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment for all staff; implements accident prevention programs. Coordinates and conducts safety trainings for all direct and indirect team members. Conducts new hire and new temp safety training.

Summary

Responsibilities
- Encourage employees and supervisors to report any injury that occurs on the job immediately.
- Encourages employees and supervisors to report all unsafe conditions immediately and schedules or coordinates repairs as soon as possible.
- Coordinates with other departments on design and construction of new equipment, facility improvements, and work methods to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations.
- Identifies potential safety hazards at facility, reports hazards and submits recommendations for eliminating or reducing to site management.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of federal and OSHA regulations and websites, maintains up-to-date knowledge of safety codes and regulations, and distributes trains and/or posts new or revised safety standards that affect the company.
- Investigates all accidents and injuries, then recommends and coordinates corrective actions.
- Supervises, controls and monitors fire prevention and firefighting activities.
- Plans, implements, communicates and monitors rail and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, federal, and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Implements and monitors safety programs to reduce frequency of accidents and injuries; assist in minimizing overall work compensation costs.
- Develop and/or update safety training programs designed to instruct employees in general safe work practices plus specific instruction with regard to hazards unique to any job assignment; provides training for new direct and indirect staff.
- Follow-up on all corrective actions to verify they are effective and being used.
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to understand and explain any safety requirements and communicate clear and concise instructions
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint required
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constant changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Competence in reacting and handling emergencies
- High School Diploma/G.E.D w/4 years indirect experience required
- Associates Degree or higher w/2 years indirect experience preferred
- OSHA or other safety related certifications
- IIPP and/or Hazard Communication Training
- 1 - 3 years Supervisory experience preferred
- CPR certification preferred
- Must hold a valid Driver's License
