Summary
The Manager - EHS Operations manages and oversees EHS programs, processes, and procedures at multiple GUS locations. Manages and coordinates company wide safety and environmental programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment for all employees. Develops and implements injury and accident programs and procedures. Ensures safety training is conducted timely at VPC facilities.
Compensation Range
$94,000 - $105,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)
Responsibilities
  • Manages and implements EHS programs at VPC facilities
    • Ensures facilities are complying with ISO 14001 / 45001 standards
    • Coordinates with EHS team members to ensure compliance with EHS policies and regulations
    • Identifies potential safety hazards at facilities, reports hazards and makes recommendations to eliminate risks to management
    • Maintains a thorough knowledge of OSHA and local regulations, maintains up-to-date knowledge of safety codes and regulations, and distributes / posts new or revised safety standards that affects the company
    • Manage EHS team members at VPC locations
    • Ensure all reporting requirements (GUS, AHQ, GHQ) are met within the specified deadlines
    • Ensure Safety required training at the VPC's is completed and documented correctly
  • Review incident / accident / injury reports for correct and complete information
    • Review corrective actions for effectiveness and mitigation of risks
    • Coordinate safety with other entities within GUS / AHQ as requested
    • Ensure all required inspections are completed timely
    • Coordinate current and future safety systems at the VPC's implementation and use
    • Conduct and document inspections to ensure there are no violations of safety processes and procedures, PPE usage is correct, there are no known hazards or environmental impacts
    • Review safety related purchases for budget / safety verification
    • Other duties as assigned relevant to Safety, Environment, and Health

Education & Experience
  • H.S Diploma/G.E.D Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • 7 - 10 years of experience relating to EHS Required
  • 8 - 13 years of experience relating to EHS Preferred
  • Certified Safety Manager and/or OSHA Training Required
  • Valid Driver's License Required
  • IIPP Training Preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit in front of a desk and/or in front of the computer for long periods
  • Repetitive use of hand/grasping product, writing, and typing
  • Possibility of working at heights - use of ladders, elevated platforms, maintenance, etc.
  • Possibility of operating heavy machinery - use of loaders, forklifts, etc.
  • Precise Manual Dexterity - Writing, Typing, Handling tools, machinery, etc.
  • Possibility of exposure to change in temperature - extreme heat, cold, humidity, harsh weather, etc.
  • Possibility of exposure to dust, fumes, gases, chemicals, etc. from construction sites, agriculture, demolition, etc.
