SUMMARY Overview of the position
The Design Manager will lead a team of designers. They will oversee the design process on entertainment trading card projects, making sure designs meet our brand standards and quality expectations, as well as ensuring projects stay on time and within costing. They will coordinate workflow by dispensing projects to their team, collaborating with other departments to ensure the designers are getting everything they need as well as executing projects themselves.

  • Team leadership is a key responsibility, being a mentor and teacher, as well as motivating and fostering a creative collaborative environment.
  • Overseeing all design projects that flow through our department, making sure the overall visual aligns with brand guidelines and objectives ensuring brand consistency. Offering guidance and feedback to your team to ensure high-quality output and adherence to project requirements.
  • Working with other departments such as Product Development to define their design needs and objectives, especially when working on new brands or re-branding of an existing brand.
  • Staying up to date on industry trends. This includes design trends, as well as new printing techniques.
  • Identify opportunities to improve design workflows and efficiency.
  • Create visually appealing designs for various entertainment licensed trading card releases. Designing for specific printing processes as well as themes.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Design Manager will oversee a design team.
EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE
  • A bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field such as art, or visual communication preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a designer, with 1-3 years of that time in a supervisory or leadership role.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Advanced design experience
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, preferably in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Understanding design principles including typography, layout composition and color theory.
  • Knowledge of print processes and how to set up files for those processes ensuring high quality output.
  • Experience with project management tools and software is a plus.
