Musicians for the Traditional Service Purpose The Director of Traditional Worship and Music Arts is responsible for developing, overseeing, and nurturing the ministries of traditional worship and music, with the goal of enhancing worship and deepening the spiritual life of the congregation. Primary Responsibilities 1. Weekly Worship Leadership Plan and evaluate weekly traditional worship services in collaboration with the Senior Pastor and worship team to organize, collaborate, and communicate goals and schedules. Recruit, coordinate, and equip worship leaders and volunteers, including musicians, vocalists, instrumentalists, Communion preparation teams, servers, and acolytes. Develop and manage digital and printed media related to worship services. Plan and lead special services throughout the liturgical year (e.g., Christmas, Easter, Ash Wednesday). Lead weekly music rehearsals and coordinate with soloists and ensemble groups as needed. 2. Music Ministry Development Oversee and lead congregational music in traditional worship services. Direct and develop the Chancel Choir for regular worship and special performances. Build a comprehensive church-wide music ministry, including age-appropriate choirs and instrumental groups for children, youth, and adults. Provide support to the Contemporary Worship Director and team as needed. Schedule and prepare music ensembles for seasonal programs and special events. Maintain musical equipment, choir robes, and other resources related to the traditional service. Extend the church’s reach into the community through music-based outreach initiatives. Provide technical support for music-related programs and events hosted by the church. 3. Administrative Duties Collaborate with the Director of Creative Media and Contemporary Worship to produce worship media and promotional materials, including newsletters and graphic content. Assist in creating and managing the worship and music ministry budget. Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for technical support, acolyte roles, and ushering duties during traditional worship services. 4. Committee Responsibilities Serve as a member of the Church Council. Participate in the Church Leadership Team, offering guidance in worship and music matters. Qualifications Bachelor of Arts in music, choral arts, or other applicable degree preferred or equivalent in experience. A strong personal faith consistent with United Methodist doctrine and theology. Proficiency in traditional church music, choral direction, and worship leadership, incorporating various musical ensembles as appropriate. Ability to recruit, lead, and develop both volunteer and professional musicians. Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills. Experience in planning and executing worship services and special events. Proficiency with church-based media and presentations, technology, live-streaming, and budgeting.
