POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Development Project Manager focuses on early-stage development, due diligence, engineering, interconnection, and permitting of Distributed Energy solar + energy storage projects ranging from 2MW to 50MW. The PM will work with senior leadership and project teams to develop projects through pre-NTP activities, then transition projects to the execution team. The Project Manager manages all aspects of early project stages, coordinating with stakeholders including consultants, lawyers, engineers, utilities, developers, financiers, and contractors. Deep knowledge of commercial solar and storage projects, strong problem-solving, and team management skills are essential. The PM reports to the Sr. Director of Engineering & Delivery. This position can be remote or based in Teaneck, NJ, with travel requirements of 10-20%. Responsibilities
Manage due diligence, engineering, permits, and procurement for solar + energy storage projects. Generate reports on project status and issues. Support early designs and due diligence with engineering teams and consultants. Coordinate with EPCs for cost estimates and bid evaluations. Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets. Prequalify EPCs, create bid packages, and negotiate contracts. Manage engineers and contractors to meet project goals. Create detailed project schedules and budgets. Use project management software like Procore. Ensure safety and coordinate with internal teams to align project goals. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management, or related field. 7+ years project management experience in ground-mount commercial solar development. 2+ years managing projects involving commercial BESS, PV, or standalone storage. Knowledge of ground-mount projects in the Northeastern US; experience with roof and carport PV is a plus. Understanding of power systems and electrical grid concepts. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with community solar and energy storage sectors. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize demands. Experience with project management software platforms. Competencies
Self-motivated, excellent communicator, technically skilled, able to work under pressure. Knowledge of due diligence steps for ground-mount PV projects. Understanding of electrical and energy systems. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Willingness to travel.
