POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Development Project Manager role focuses on early-stage development, due diligence, engineering, interconnection, and permitting of Distributed Energy solar + energy storage projects ranging from 2MW to 50MW. The PM will work with senior leadership and project teams to develop projects through pre-NTP activities, transitioning to project execution after NTP. The Project Manager manages all aspects of early project stages, coordinating with stakeholders including consultants, lawyers, engineers, permitting agencies, utilities, developers, financiers, and construction teams. Deep knowledge of commercial solar and storage projects, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently are essential. The PM reports to the Sr. Director of Engineering & Delivery. This position is remote or based in Teaneck, NJ, with travel requirements of 10-20%. Responsibilities
Manage due diligence, engineering, estimates, permitting, and procurement of solar + energy storage projects. Generate reports on project status and issues. Support early designs and due diligence with engineering and consultants. Work with EPCs for cost estimates and bid analysis. Develop project work plans and schedules. Prequalify EPC partners, create bid packages, analyze bids, and negotiate contracts. Manage engineers and contractors, produce schedules, and support project safety. Coordinate with internal teams to align project goals. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management, or related field. 7+ years project management experience in ground mount commercial solar development. 2+ years managing projects involving commercial BESS, PV, or standalone storage. Knowledge of ground mount projects in the Northeastern US; experience with roof and carport PV is a plus. Understanding of power systems and electrical grid concepts. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in community solar and energy storage sectors. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize demands. Experience with project management software platforms. Competencies
Self-motivated, excellent communicator, strong technical skills. Knowledge of due diligence steps for PV projects. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and teamwork skills. Prepared to travel.
