Purpose:

The purpose of the Senior Director of Design & Construction (D&C) position is to lead a regional team responsible for driving the design and construction of retail and food & beverage venues, concept/brand conversions, and remodel projects for the company, primarily in North American airports. Essential Functions: Leads regional team of Preconstruction Directors and Project Directors, providing tactical guidance and strategic oversight to ensure projects are successfully completed within schedule, budget, and quality parameters while delivering ongoing coaching, training, and development feedback for continuous team improvement Monitors and manages comprehensive resource allocations and workload planning for internal teams and external consultants to ensure timely project execution; oversees all regional interior design, food service design, architectural, engineering, and entitlement resources while ensuring selection, development, and training aligns with project needs and quality standards Manages complete general contractor and vendor qualification, selection, negotiation/bidding, and contracting processes within the region; analyzes and approves all change orders within approved budget parameters while maintaining vendor performance standards Oversees project schedules and turnover date reporting within the region while ensuring timely construction status updates are provided to internal teams, external partners/vendors, brand representatives, and airport clients as required for operational coordination Drives capital project financial forecasting and controls within the region while optimizing capital efficiency for each project; maintains detailed financial forecast updates and provides timely explanations for budget overrun/variance requests and post-audit requirements Monitors project quality and scope of work to ensure alignment with approved business cases and strategic objectives; ensures timely project completion in conjunction with Project Administration, including submission of certified cost statements, as-built drawings, and airport-mandated closeout packages Provides strategic support to Business Development, Operations, and Restaurant Development teams for new business pursuits (RFPs), lease extensions, mid-term reinvestments, and related development activities that drive organizational growth Collaborates closely with Vice President of D&C and Senior Director of D&C Program Support to develop comprehensive strategies and establish tactical procedures for process standardization and continuous improvement within the D&C department Builds and maintains extensive network of external consultants and project managers to provide local, on-site oversight of General Contractors; provides approvals and strategic oversight to ensure optimal allocation and performance of external resources Drives innovation in construction methodologies and design standards while ensuring brand compliance and operational functionality across diverse airport environments; leads implementation of best practices and emerging technologies in construction delivery Reporting Relationship & Role Information: The position reports to the Vice President of Design & Construction This is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act The position provides oversight and leadership of an internal team of regional Pre-Construction Directors and Project Directors as well as external consultants and contractors integral to the restaurant development process Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment: Education and Experience:

The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 10 years: In a leadership role: Requires 5 years of experience supervising design and construction professionals engaged in executing complex construction programs In a technical role: Requires 10 years of experience engaged in developing and delivering design and construction programs A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field can count for 3 of the 10-year requirement Industry: 3-5 years of experience in F&B, Retail, or Hospitality Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits: Extensive knowledge of construction management, design processes, and project delivery methods in commercial and hospitality environments Strong financial acumen with ability to manage complex project budgets, analyze cost variances, and drive capital efficiency across multiple concurrent projects Proven leadership abilities with experience managing cross-functional teams, external contractors, and consultant relationships Excellent communication and negotiation skills for engaging with airport authorities, brand partners, contractors, and internal stakeholders Strategic thinking capabilities with ability to develop standardized processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives Business acumen and mindset required to understand long-term implications of design and construction decisions and advance organizational goals Demonstrated history of understanding business needs, stakeholder requirements, and project complexities in airport and hospitality environments Location/Travel: This role may either be based at the North America Center of Excellence in Bethesda, MD or another location in the Southeast within proximity to a major airport This role may require up to 50% travel to airport locations Disclaimer:
