The MDTA seeks a self-motivated Deputy Director for the Office of Environment, Safety, and Risk Management (OESRM) to oversee environmental and safety/risk programs. Responsibilities include supporting the Director in developing strategic plans and ensuring compliance with MDOT initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Managing environmental compliance programs for MDTA facilities and projects; Implementing strategies to minimize environmental impact; Assessing and controlling risk liabilities; Overseeing Vehicle Accident Management and Substance Abuse Testing Programs; Managing a team of 12 employees, including two managers. This position reports to the Director of OESRM and is based in Baltimore, MD, with potential hybrid telework options. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's in Safety Management, Risk Management, Environmental Science, or relevant field. Experience: 7 years in environmental or safety/risk management, including 3 years supervising staff or managing operations. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of environmental and safety laws, team leadership, strong communication, and 2 years federal government experience.
