The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Health Benefits Specialist is responsible for increasing customer-owner enrollment with third-party payers through screening and application assistance. The role involves supporting patients and their families to access funding, working with private and governmental agencies such as private insurance. The Health Benefits Specialist determines if customer-owners have current third-party coverage, verifies information, and assists with enrollment in programs like Medicaid, Medicare, Denali Kid Care, VA, and Tribally Sponsored Insurance. Qualifications

SCF serves primarily Alaska Native people affiliated with CIRI and within its geographical area. Understanding their cultures and needs is essential to achieving SCF’s vision of wellness and its mission of collaborative health services: High school diploma or GED At least 3 years of administrative and customer service experience, including revenue cycle duties such as scheduling, registration, health information management, coding, billing, or collections; or demonstrated proficiency as an Administrative Support III with revenue cycle duties at SCF. Additional Qualifications for Health Benefits Specialist II

Associate’s degree or 2 years benefits enrollment experience, or equivalent; or proficiency as a Health Benefits Specialist I at SCF. Certification as a State of Alaska - Certified Application Counselor (CAC), or obtain within 45 days of hire. Native Preference

SCF follows a policy of Native preference in hiring, contracting, and training, requiring certification for applicants to receive preference. Employee Health Requirements
