The Job in a Nutshell: The Assistant Store Manager is the second in command of the store, responsible for its successful operation and profitability. This includes training, directing, and monitoring all department staff. Main Responsibilities: Greet and service customers according to company standards of World Class customer service. Provide professional leadership for staff as expected of all managers. Handle customer complaints appropriately and per company policy. Maintain an inviting and shoppable store environment. Ensure products customers want are in stock. Handle special orders per company policy. Answer phones per standards and spend at least 75% of time assisting customers, directing staff, and attending to departments. Train staff on exemplary customer service and accountability. Ensure staff compliance with applicable food safety certifications and registrations. Meet and/or exceed expectations in sales, sales per labor hour, average ticket, customer count, COGS for produce, and EBITDA. Order products from correct vendors to maintain margins and discounts. Maintain in-stock conditions, monitor product mix, and manage markdowns per standards. Assist in hiring, training, and managing store personnel. Manage scheduling, staff cross-training, and product knowledge enhancement. Participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions with HR support. Maintain clear communication, conduct staff meetings, and ensure safety guidelines are followed. Complete operational responsibilities and store paperwork timely. Respond to business disruptions and manage schedule flexibility, including evenings and weekends. Lead by example, setting standards of excellence and professionalism. All employees are expected to be hands-on and contribute to company success. Qualifications

Recipe for Success: High school diploma or GED; 1-2 years management in grocery or retail, natural foods experience a plus. Ability to manage priorities and pass food safety training/certifications. Forklift certification ability. Maintain food safety certifications through ongoing education. Highly organized with a sense of urgency. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to follow directions and be cashier trained. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. This description is not a contract; duties may change, and employees must accomplish assigned tasks.
