Operations Site Manager
Interstate Waste Services is the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services in the country! We primarily service Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, Connecticut, with a state-of-the-art rail served landfill located in Ohio. Job Highlights
The Site Manager oversees the assigned responsibilities within a line of business or at a specific site within a market. This may include managing one or multiple depots, building facilities, expenses, and operations staff to ensure safety, performance, and productivity metrics are met.
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additional minor duties may be assigned.
Manage daily operations of the depot(s) and support Operations managers and supervisors in ensuring quality and budget targets are achieved.
Monitor budgets and operational metrics, diagnosing and improving processes, procedures, and performance.
Implement safety measures and ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA, and other standards and regulations.
Conduct thorough root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, following up with discipline, retraining, and management review.
Oversee personnel needs including hiring, coaching, disciplining, training, and evaluating employee performance. Provide input for termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
Develop short-term and long-term goals and action plans in collaboration with Site Managers and the Director of Operations.
Participate in regular P&L reviews to ensure budget adherence; develop programs for equipment utilization, maintenance, and cost control.
Engage with local government agencies to ensure customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, contract renewals, and negotiations; position IWS as a valued community resource.
Work with teams to address employee and labor relations issues.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Supervisory Experience:
5+ years managing teams including direct and indirect reports. Education and Experience: Associate degree or, in lieu, High School Diploma or GED plus 2 years relevant work experience. Minimum of 3 years in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations involving coaching, routing, and employee leadership. Additional Skills and Knowledge: Experience in operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, finance, and HR functions; safety program implementation; budget management; labor relations resolution.
