Job Description This position oversees the daily operations of the Experimental Test Facility (XTF) and Helium Test Facility (HTF), ensuring efficient testing processes and manufacturing demonstrations for high-temperature gas-cooled pebble bed nuclear reactor technologies. Responsibilities include managing technicians, developing procedures for safe and high-quality laboratory operations, equipment purchasing, inventory management, and maintaining safety and quality standards.
Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities
Oversee daily operation of test facilities, ensuring compliance with project deadlines, regulatory requirements (OSHA, NFPA, local building codes), and quality standards.
Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment, manage procurement and installation of new equipment.
Develop and improve laboratory processes for hardware testing from prototype to validation.
Lead integration of new equipment, technologies, and testing methods.
Manage laboratory budgets and support project-specific budgets.
Ensure adherence to safety standards, conduct safety audits and training.
Maintain records of test results, equipment maintenance, and activities; prepare reports.
Identify and implement process improvements, stay informed of industry advancements.
Develop and deliver training programs on safety, equipment, and testing protocols.
Build and mentor a team of technicians, ensuring 24/7 operations during critical tests.
Maintain professionalism in all communications.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience (military training, certifications).
Typically 10 years of work experience.
At least 5 years in a management role within industrial testing or prototype development, with experience overseeing high-temperature/high-pressure testing, configuring systems, implementing safety protocols, and familiarity with safety and quality standards (ISO 9001, NQA-1).
Strong background in instrumentation, control systems, and data acquisition.
Experience operating and maintaining industrial tools and equipment.

Frederick, MD
Work Site Expectations:
5 days a week in office
Travel Expectations:
Up to 10%
Hours:
8:00am-5:00pm ET, Mon-Fri
Compensation:
Estimated $132,750 - $184,375, based on experience and qualifications.
Position Classification:
Full time - Exempt
