Conduct commissioning, testing, maintenance, and repair of complex protective relaying schemes in generation, transmission, and distribution substations. Operate various electrical test equipment such as Omicron, Doble, Vanguard, etc. Understand interfacing software including Test Universe, Protection Suite, AcSELerator, Wireshark, etc. Facilitate retrofit, upgrade, and replacement projects for electrical controls, SCADA, DCS, and Power System Protection Equipment. Key Responsibilities
Test overcurrent/voltage, directional, distance, impedance, sync check, loss of field, reverse power, and multifunction relays. Perform function testing of substation control circuits, relay panels, transformers, and circuit breaker controls. Conduct isolation, setpoint testing, advanced logic testing, and scheme testing (reclosing, breaker failure, etc.). Use Doble Protection Suite, RTS, or Test Universe software for end-to-end relay testing to verify communication-assisted protection schemes. Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relaying equipment, schemes, DFR equipment, SCADA systems, and communication devices. Develop written standard procedures for commissioning, testing, and maintenance of relays, DFRs, RTUs, IEDs, and communication systems. Generate reports detailing issues found and corrective actions taken or proposed. Represent the company professionally during interactions with vendors, customers, or service providers. Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of field experience in commissioning, checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repair of substation relaying and control schemes. Experience with substation commissioning, SCADA, Fault Data, SER, and automation equipment installation and testing is desirable. Understanding of protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, etc., and troubleshooting SCADA issues using protocol test sets like Wireshark and ASE 2000. Knowledge of three-phase power systems, power system protection, and control schemes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Ability to distinguish color coding of wires, fiber optics, or other relevant materials. Salary Range: $100,000 - $350,000 Additional Details
