Newport News, VA Job Summary The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is the senior executive responsible for the overall management of all financial functions for Drucker + Falk, its affiliates and managed properties. Reporting to the President, the CFO provides strategic direction, ensures robust financial controls, optimizes capital deployment, and partners with operational leaders to deliver exceptional value to clients, residents and team members. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Finance Leadership Direct financial planning, capital allocation and liquidity management to support company growth and mission objectives. Manage and invest corporate and client cash; oversee banking relationships and debt compliance. Partner with the other leaders on M&A, new acquisitions, financing structures and closings. Accounting & Financial Reporting Oversee the Accounting department in coordination with the Director of Accounting, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for managed properties. Directly oversee preparation of Drucker + Falk financial statements and present findings to Board of Directors and other key stakeholders. Maintain a rigorous system of internal controls. Enhance financial systems and workflows to improve efficiency, scalability and data integrity. Tax, Audit & Compliance Coordinate external audits, tax planning and filings across corporate, partnership and property entities, and lead the internal audit team. Monitor changes in accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory requirements; adapt policies accordingly. Leadership & Talent Development Communicate organizational goals and objectives, aligning departmental responsibilities and resources. Conduct performance evaluations and provide mentorship to direct reports; build succession pipelines. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation and service consistent with company values. Risk Management Overall responsibility for risk management strategy, including insurance procurement, risk assessment and mitigation planning. Serve as liaison with legal counsel on contracts, significant disputes and insurance claims. Other Serve as chair of Retirement Plan Committee and work with Director of Human Resources on evaluating and procuring other major employee benefits (e.g. Health Insurance). Oversee other corporate support department(s) as assigned by the President Special Projects & Continuous Improvement Lead cross‑functional initiatives that enhance profitability, operational efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction. Drive adoption of analytical tools, dashboards and automation within finance and across the enterprise. Education + Experience Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent (CPA preferred). 8+ years senior financial leadership, with experience in real estate or property management strongly desired.
