Position Summary:
The Controller leads the accounting function and is responsible for financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. This strategic leadership role is part of the Executive Leadership Team and plays a key role in operational and financial oversight, ensuring alignment with the companys long-term goals. The Controller is expected to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight & Compliance
Lead all accounting operations, including monthly/quarterly close, budgeting, and forecasting. Ensure full compliance with U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Oversee the preparation of internal and external financial reports, including SEC-related schedules. Direct external audits and serve as primary contact with independent auditors. Maintain robust internal controls and documentation in accordance with COSO framework. Strategic Planning & Reporting
Collaborate with executive leadership to identify financial risks and performance improvement opportunities. Oversee capital project reporting, treasury relationships, and cash flow forecasting. Lead regulatory reporting and data submission related to industry-specific compliance. Systems & Process Improvement
Manage accounting systems and direct IT strategy for financial reporting. Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Lead or support accounting system implementations and report development. Team Development & Leadership
Mentor and lead the accounting team to ensure transparency, accuracy, and effective communication. Promote a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous learning. Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing professional development opportunities. Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required. CPA preferred. Experience:
12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 8+ years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and internal controls. Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and consolidated financial reporting. Familiarity with multi-entity accounting and financial system implementation (NetSuite preferred). Prior experience supporting regulatory filings and external audits. Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, complex formulas). Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite preferred). Experience with report writing and system automation. Soft Skills & Attributes:
Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact effectively with all levels of the organization. Proven leadership and team-building capabilities. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Work Environment:
This position is primarily based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, although consideration will be given to candidates preferring to be primarily located in the Companys office in Great Falls, Montana. Standard office environment with prolonged computer use. Occasional lifting/moving items up to 25 lbs. Must be able to sit, type, and work at a computer for extended periods. Direct Reports:
