Purpose of the role
Support the development of audits aligned with the bank’s standards and objectives by collaborating with colleagues, providing accurate information and recommendations, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
Support audit development and delivery, including financial statements, accounting practices, operational processes, IT systems, and risk management.
Identify operational risks to support the delivery of the Barclays Internal Audit (BIA) Audit Plan through risk assessments.
Assess internal control effectiveness and their ability to identify and mitigate risks in line with regulatory requirements.
Communicate key findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including the Audit Owner, senior managers, and directors.
Identify regulatory news and industry trends/developments to provide timely insights and best practice recommendations.
Director Expectations
Manage a business function, contributing to strategic initiatives, and influencing policy and procedures. Plan, manage, and consult on complex strategic projects, potentially across the entire business.
Lead a large team or sub-function, fostering a performance culture aligned with business values, or act as a technical expert and thought leader on organization-wide projects. Mentor less experienced specialists and influence long-term strategic decisions.
Provide expert advice to senior management and committees, influencing decisions beyond their immediate function.
Manage resourcing, budgeting, and policy development for a significant sub-function.
Escalate policy/procedure breaches appropriately.
Ensure compliance with regulations and relevant processes.
Monitor and influence external environment, regulators, and advocacy groups as appropriate.
Have extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business to achieve objectives.
Maintain current industry knowledge and external market insights.
Use advanced analytical skills to solve complex and sensitive problems.
Make strategic decisions within their area of authority.
Negotiate and influence stakeholders at senior levels internally and externally.
Act as a principal contact for key clients and cross-functional counterparts.
Serve as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
