As a Database Modernization Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will be responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions to support the firm’s objectives. Job Responsibilities Contribute as database administration and development expert, working with application development teams to develop, execute, and support database modernization/optimization activities. Provide thought leadership and modernization support to application development (AD) teams through analysis, migration, and post-migration efforts for their database footprints. Partner with PaaS, DBaaS, and Cloud Delivery teams to resolve issues and influence implementation of self-service capabilities to support the AD teams. Participate in tactical and strategic database modernization planning and develop database modernization patterns. Support development teams performing database modernization activities. Assist AD teams in troubleshooting and resolving production database issues and contribute to root cause analysis. Perform proactive reviews of database implementations to enhance performance, efficiency, resiliency, and cost optimization. Contribute to designing and developing tools to accelerate modernization efforts. Support AD teams in upskilling database development and support competencies. Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills Formal training or certification in software engineering with 5+ years of experience. Hands-on experience in database system design, development, performance testing, and operational stability. 5+ years’ experience as a database administrator for Oracle and/or SQL Server, with experience in AWS and/or Azure and related database services. Experience supporting databases in DevOps, automation, and continuous delivery. Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle. Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security. Proficiency in software applications and technical processes within disciplines like cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile. Experience performing database upgrades and migrations. Self-motivated with the ability to support delivery individually or in teams. Excellent communication skills. Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills Interest in mastering emerging technologies and sharing knowledge. Ability to adapt roles to support team success. Knowledge of the financial services industry and IT systems. Experience with NoSQL databases.
