Job Summary The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. May be assigned to specific medical specialty department (e.g., orthopedics). Job Requirements Minimum Education : High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting. If not yet a CMA, you will receive all hours required for the CMA exam. Hendrick Clinic will cover the fee for the first exam. Minimum Work Experience : At least one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented externship in a medical office. Experience with EKG, vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injections. Required Licenses/Certifications : Certified Medical Assistant within 26 months of hire; current CPR certification. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities : Knowledge of healthcare protocols, assisting tasks, patient communication; skills in medical assistance, interpersonal interactions, patient education; ability to learn procedures, project professionalism, prioritize tasks, and demonstrate compassion.
