nPosition Summary
nThe Pharmacist Intern supports pharmacy operations under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience with medication dispensing, patient counseling, and pharmacy workflow in a community health setting. The intern will gain exposure to clinical programs, patient communication, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.
nKey Responsibilities
nAssist pharmacists in dispensing prescriptions accurately and efficiently
nProvide courteous and professional customer service to patients and caregivers
nSupport patient outreach initiatives such as medication adherence and immunization clinics
nParticipate in medication therapy management (MTM) and other clinical services as applicable
nMaintain accurate records and documentation according to state and federal regulations
nAssist with inventory management including ordering, restocking, and checking for expired medications
nLearn and adhere to Commonshare’s quality and compliance procedures
nAd-hoc projects as Assigned by PIC
nQualifications
nCurrently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program
nPossess or eligible for a Virginia Pharmacy Intern License
nStrong interpersonal and communication skills
nDetail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance
nAbility to work effectively in a team and adapt in a dynamic environment
nInterest in community pharmacy and patient-centered care
nPreferred Skills
nBilingual in English and Spanish (a plus)
nPrevious experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
nCPR Certification
nImmunization certificate
nFamiliarity with pharmacy management systems (e.g., PioneerRx, QS1, or similar)
nWorking Conditions
nStanding for extended periods
nInteracting with patients, healthcare providers, and team members
nShifts may include evenings or weekends depending on site hours
