The Department of Surgery, University of California, San Francisco, is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time academic surgeon with an exemplary record of patient care and expertise in coronary revascularization. Candidates must be board certified/board eligible or have completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the time of hire. Experience in advanced techniques in coronary surgery. The candidate will work closely with interventional cardiologists, within the Center for Interventional Cardiovascular Care and Innovation, as the leader of a multidisciplinary team to expand and develop a world class program in the advanced management of complex coronary diseases.
The selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate clinical leadership through the delivery of the state of the art, high-quality, patient-centered care for high-risk coronary revascularization, develop a robust, data driven program of quality assurance and enhancement that is unrivaled, adhering to regulatory and safety standards, lead efforts to increase volumes through outreach and marketing collaboration, develop a strategic plan to expand the UCSF’s coronary surgery program to become a regional center of excellence, and champion the development and application of cutting-edge technology, including robotics, and integrating emerging technologies into clinical practice.
The selected candidate will also be expected to work collaboratively with other Departments and hospital leadership to enhance integrated care for patients and work to direct strategic planning to identify resource needs and plan investments for the complex coronary program growth and success. Candidates must have effective communication and collaboration skills. Research productivity is expected and protected time for research will be considered. The selected candidate should have a proven track record and publications, clinical research, and national recognition.
Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department’s residency, fellowship training and educational programs.
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 . The minimum base salary range for this position is $149,700 - $393,200. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
