Background Information BronxWorks and Office/Program: BronxWorks is a Bronx-based settlement house dedicated to improving the well-being of low-income communities. Each year, BronxWorks offers programs for more than 40,000 children, adults and senior citizens, including the homeless, people affected by HIV/AIDS, immigrants, and residents entering the workforce. Qualifications (education, professional certifications or licenses, experience, proficiencies)

High school diploma or equivalent Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, Ipads, electronic mail, voicemail, facsimile and copier equipment Proficiency in English required; proficiency in Bengali, Spanish or French is preferred Driver’s License preferred Essential Duties and Responsibilities Be able to travel between multiple Food Pantry sites to assist with distribution. Provide general outreach and promotion for program (outdoor and indoor) Provide office support including: clerical, filing, faxing, scanning, typing, photocopying and sorting mail Answer telephones and offer other office support, when necessary Report to, and meet with, supervisor on a weekly basis or as determined Perform additional duties as assigned Program Specific Responsibilities Support strategies for community outreach and recruitment Become knowledgeable of every component and service offered by the CMCC Food Pantry Provide assistance with all Food Pantry activities, such as, lifting boxes, sorting food, assisting with inventory management, and crowd control Complete data entry for Food Pantry clients Greet clients and schedule appointments for them to receive services Create and distribute informational materials and fliers in targeted (and other) communities in the Bronx to promote services, events, and other special functions Refer clients to an appropriate program for enrollment services Perform data entry work Perform other duties as necessary Skills/Abilities Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills Good writing skills Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work BronxWorks seeks to build an inclusive organization grounded in respect for differences.
