Pricing Analyst

to join our team. The Pricing Analyst is responsible for supporting the firm’s pricing strategy by developing matter budgets, evaluating profitability, and identifying opportunities to enhance financial performance. This role will collaborate with attorneys, leadership, and cross-functional teams to deliver insights that inform decision-making and align pricing approaches with client and firm goals. Key Responsibilities: Partner with attorneys and firm leadership to develop pricing proposals, matter budgets, and alternative fee arrangements for client engagements. Develop pricing models, budget estimates, and fee structures, incorporating historical data and stakeholder input. Provide strategic insight through competitive analysis, market intelligence, and benchmarking to inform pricing decisions. Analyze historical and current data to support pricing strategies, matter budgets, and profitability evaluations. Interpret billing and engagement data to assess financial performance, identify trends, and support pricing recommendations. Produce clear, actionable reports and analysis that support pricing, budgeting, and matter management needs. Assist in identifying, documenting, and tracking alternative fee arrangements and client-specific pricing strategies. Research and respond to pricing-related client requests, including the financial components of RFPs and business development pitches. Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development teams to support pricing elements of client proposals and strategic initiatives Monitor and report on the performance of active matters and pricing arrangements to ensure profitability and compliance. Support the annual billing rate setting process and perform ongoing benchmarking and maintenance of standard hourly rates. Build and enhance financial models, templates, and tools to streamline pricing, budgeting, and reporting processes. Improve data integrity and maintain pricing-related databases to support accurate reporting and decision-making. Develop and refine tools, checklists, and workflows in collaboration with practice leaders and attorneys to support effective matter management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Billing, Practice Services, and Data and Innovation to gather, validate, and analyze relevant data. Respond to ad-hoc requests from attorneys and firm leadership related to pricing, reporting, and financial strategy. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of 2 years of pricing experience in a professional services environment; law firm experience preferred. Proven experience developing and pricing a variety of fee arrangements, including blended rates, fixed fees, and task-based pricing Basic understanding of billing practices for professional service firms. Strong analytical and financial skills, including the ability to interpret Profit and Loss (P&L) statements and assess personnel costs. Experience preparing detailed budgets by breaking work into phases, estimating time-based tasks, and assigning costs by individual or role. Experience responding to pricing requests from clients including lengthy and detailed Requests for Proposals (RFP). Ability to analyze client or account profitability, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide actionable recommendations. Strong Microsoft Excel skills; working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to work independently, use initiative, follow through, and complete pricing and other financial analysis exercises. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the firm. Self-motivated with strong initiative and the ability to manage pricing and financial analysis independently from start to finish. Willingness to travel for work-related projects or events.
