About the Opportunity
We’re representing an established U.S. industrial manufacturer with European roots and a strong global footprint. Known for their precision-built machinery and commitment to engineering excellence, this organization supports a wide range of sectors across the Americas. Trade compliance is a central component of their operational and regulatory integrity. They are now seeking a Trade Compliance Manager to lead regional import/export compliance activities and drive continuous improvement in customs and regulatory processes.
Role Overview
This Charlotte-based position (with hybrid flexibility) offers the chance to lead trade compliance strategy across North America. You’ll be responsible for classification, broker oversight, trade agreement application, and internal policy development—working closely with global counterparts and senior leadership. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Manage trade compliance for North American imports and exports Oversee HTS classification, free trade agreements, and duty savings initiatives Lead internal audits and ensure proactive risk management Maintain and update SOPs, training, and internal compliance frameworks Coordinate with brokers, forwarders, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution Monitor regulatory changes and align policies accordingly Collaborate with global trade and legal teams to support cross-border initiatives
Ideal Candidate Profile
Active U.S. Customs Broker License (required) 5–7+ years of trade compliance experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment Expert knowledge of U.S. customs laws, HTS classification, and import/export regulations Familiarity with NAFTA/USMCA, CBP, BIS, and tariff management Experience with SAP S/4HANA, GTS, or equivalent ERP/trade systems Excellent communication skills and the ability to train and collaborate across functions Based in or willing to relocate to Charlotte, NC (relocation support offered)
