The Consumer Lending Manager guides and coordinates all direct consumer loan activities within the Credit Union and provides indirect consumer lending support as needed while ensuring compliance with Credit Union policies and relevant regulatory guidelines.

The position oversees the underwriting, loan processing, loan servicing, and collateral management areas of the Credit Union and ensures a sound approval process of consumer loan applications while maintaining the organizing, planning, and directing of the Credit Union's consumer loan functions to maximize profit and growth while upholding the Credit Union’s member experience. This position assists in the development and implementation of departmental lending policies and operational procedures consistent with overall Credit Union management policies.

The position is a customer service role with key emphasis in promoting a strong and positive working environment for lenders and other team members while also promoting and enabling a strong and positive borrower experience.

Responsibilities Responsible for upholding and adhering to Credit Union of Georgia brand standards including following all the steps of our unique member journEASE experience by striving to Engage, Ask, Solve and Excite while delivering top level member service every time. Directs and monitors all lending operations for consumer and business loans (oversees underwriters, loan processors, and collateral specialists) and helps ensure that all credit union lenders are following established guidelines and procedures with respect to lending. Monitors product delivery and quality and takes action to resolve problems, should any arise. Directs and manages collateral operations by overseeing collateral specialists and ensuring pledged collateral is properly and legally secured. Assists with the development, processing, and maintenance of consumer, business, and home equity products. Assists and coordinates with the Indirect Lending Administrator as needed to help facilitate indirect lending needs. Underwrites direct, indirect, and small business loans, which meet established lending requirements and provide maximum profitability to the company with minimum risk by approving, declining, or counter-offering loan applications within a set lending authority. Oversees and ensures that loan processing is conducted in accordance to State and Federal regulations and internal policy and procedure. Oversees the servicing of all loans (direct, indirect, and business) with the exception of first mortgage loans (traditional, construction, and land). Ensures compliance with Credit Union standards and practices and State and Federal regulations. Maintains interest rate structure, lending programs, and budgets which are competitive and maximize profitability. Assists with the development, analysis and oversight of loan policies, underwriting procedures and overall loan processes, including special projects and new product deployment. Prepares and analyzes financial and operational reports as they pertain to the consumer lending department. Participates in establishment of annual department budget and monitors performance to budget throughout the year; establishes incentive loan goals (in conjunction with overall Credit Union Organizational Goals) for lending programs and initiates action to achieve established goals. Ensures competent, motivated staff through hiring, training, counseling, supervising, and reviewing performance of staff employees. All other duties as assigned by management.

Experience Two to five years of bank or credit union consumer lending experience required. At least one year of management experience required. Loan/member service experience required.

Education/Training High school degree or GED required. College degree preferred. All employees must complete annual training modules including but not limited to cyber security, bank secrecy act as well as other compliance and regulatory requirements.
