The Chief Lending Officer (CLO) is the executive leader responsible for managing and directing all lending operations, including consumer, mortgage, commercial, and indirect lending. This role provides strategic vision and hands-on leadership to ensure that lending practices align with the institution’s financial goals, risk appetite, and regulatory obligations. The CLO also plays a critical role in executive decision-making and works closely with the CEO

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Lead and oversee the development and execution of all lending strategies across consumer, mortgage, commercial, and indirect loan portfolios. Serve as a senior advisor to executive leadership and the Board on all lending-related matters, including portfolio performance and regulatory compliance. Ensure strong credit quality and risk management practices through oversight of underwriting, policy development, and loan approval processes. Monitor market trends and economic conditions to guide loan product innovation and competitive positioning. Approve complex and exception-based loan requests, balancing risk management with member satisfaction. Collaborate with compliance to address and resolve any regulatory issues, audit findings, or internal control concerns. Lead, mentor, and manage lending department managers and ensure performance alignment with institutional goals. Manage vendor relationships for lending systems and services to ensure quality and compliance. Report lending performance to internal stakeholders, including executive leadership, regulators, and the Board. Champion process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial services lending, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Expertise in consumer, mortgage, and commercial lending practices and regulatory compliance. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational results. Strong strategic thinking, communication, and risk management skills. Must be bondable.
