Senior Legal Counsel
to lead cross-border dispute resolution and litigation strategy across CATL’s U.S. operations. This role focuses on international arbitration and U.S. litigation, particularly in high-stakes matters involving intellectual property, commercial contracts, trade compliance, and the energy storage value chain. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the legal posture of one of the most dynamic players in the global energy transition. Key Responsibilities Lead international arbitration and litigation strategy in coordination with global legal teams, with a particular emphasis on disputes involving advanced battery technology, manufacturing agreements, and international supply chains. Directly manage and direct outside counsel on U.S. proceedings, including commercial litigation, IP enforcement/defense, and regulatory disputes. Serve as a legal liaison between CATL’s U.S. operations and China-based legal teams, facilitating efficient, culturally fluent collaboration across time zones and jurisdictions. Drive the development and implementation of internal dispute resolution processes and risk mitigation strategies. Advise internal stakeholders on U.S. procedural issues (e.g., discovery, privilege, interim relief), with sensitivity to cross-border implications. Support China-based arbitrations and litigations that involve U.S. ancillary proceedings, including enforcement of arbitral awards or court judgments, obtaining discovery under 28 U.S.C. § 1782, and seeking provisional remedies in U.S. courts. Proactively identify and analyze litigation trends, exposure areas, and potential claims or defenses. Qualifications & Skills J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state. Minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience in international arbitration and U.S. litigation, with a preference for in-house experience in a multinational corporate setting. Substantive familiarity with one or more of the following: U.S. civil procedure, international arbitration rules (e.g., ICC, HKIAC, SIAC), trade compliance, IP litigation, or commercial contract disputes. Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-value matters independently and in collaboration with global teams. Excellent judgment, problem-solving ability, and business-oriented mindset. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence across functions and cultures. Mandarin proficiency is a plus but not required. Why Join Us?
