Experienced Automotive Controller needed for reputable new-car dealership in the Fort Smith, AR market. This is a great long-term opportunity with a well-established family-owned dealership who cares about their employees and their customers. It is important that the person hired has experience as a Controller at a new car dealership and can close out the month-end financial statement in a timely and accurate manner. The successful candidate is a hands-on Automotive Comptroller who is strong with cash management, cleaning schedules, bank recs, and ensuring the financial well-being of the dealership as a whole. Additionally, the dealer is looking for a Controller that is a positive leader and strong at training, developing, and managing their team for continued success. Experience on Dealertrack is a plus, but not mandatory. This position reports directly to the Dealer Principal who is looking for a Controller that can be a valued business partner for many years to come. Dealership experience is required for this role.
Responsibilities: Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements (including manufacturer financials). Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings. Monitor daily operating control reports and identify variances. Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts. Oversee and maintain internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure data accuracy. Monitor cash flow, bank reconciliations, and floorplan accounts. Review and manage dealership expenses and vendor contracts. Track and reconcile manufacturer incentives, warranty payments, and co-op programs. Oversee the accounting office, including AP/AR, title clerks, payroll, and office staff. Train, develop, and manage accounting personnel. Coordinate with department managers (sales, service, parts, F&I) to ensure accurate reporting and compliance. Submit required factory reports and ensure compliance with franchise agreements. Ensure dealership accounting complies with GAAP, IRS guidelines, and manufacturer requirements. Review and manage dealership expenses Support the Dealer Principal and department managers as needed Other duties as assigned
Compensation & Benefits: Competitive compensation package in the $125,000 - $150,000 range
