Position Overview
The Purchasing Manager – Structures Division is responsible for leading and managing procurement activities related to raw materials, fabricated components, and structural assemblies to support production operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring supply continuity, cost optimization, and alignment with project timelines. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, Warehouse, and Project Management.
This is a highly autonomous, hands-on role that requires deep experience in sourcing for complex, production-driven environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metals and structural components, demonstrate high attention to detail, and be capable of managing procurement projects and continuous improvement initiatives without direct personnel management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities Manage procurement projects and sourcing strategies for structural materials, components, and subassemblies in alignment with production schedules and cost targets Collaborate with Engineering and Production to resolve technical procurement issues, material substitutions, and specification changes Monitor supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery, documentation accuracy, and resolution of discrepancies Lead vendor evaluation and selection processes; source and onboard new suppliers as needed to support business growth and risk mitigation Support cost-reduction initiatives by analyzing BOMs and identifying opportunities for savings through alternate sourcing or consolidation Utilize ERP/MRP data to optimize purchasing decisions including reorder points, inventory levels, and purchase quantities Track and improve key procurement KPIs such as purchase order cycle time, on-time delivery, and cost savings Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to align purchasing priorities with project milestones and lead time requirements
Qualifications & Success Profile Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related technical field Minimum 8+ years of progressive purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in metals or structural fabrication Demonstrated success managing projects and sourcing processes, including supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and contract terms Strong understanding of structural materials (e.g., steel, aluminum), fabrication workflows, and industrial components Proficient in ERP or MRP systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and decision-making skills Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Familiarity with ISO or quality system standards and continuous improvement methodologies preferred
