Work Schedule: Core hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Hybrid
work model — on-site presence required as needed
Key Responsibilities Review purchase requisitions and coordinate with departments on product specifications, quality, and delivery. Ensure compliance with
GPO (Group Purchasing Organization)
contracts and use GPO tools for pricing/product information. Place orders via
EDI
or directly with vendors. Monitor and evaluate vendor
price increases
and communicate updates to Materials Management. Solicit vendor quotes for non-GPO products, perform pricing analysis, and negotiate pricing terms. Analyze group purchasing contracts to identify
cost-saving opportunities . Evaluate and compare vendors based on
specs, pricing, and delivery performance . Expedite backorders and collaborate with departments to approve product substitutions when necessary. Support initiatives related to
cost savings ,
product standardization , and
inventory optimization . Provide high-quality
customer service
to internal stakeholders. Ensure
timely processing
of all orders (within 24 hours of requisition receipt). Assist in
product evaluations
with detailed market research and cost comparisons. Collaborate with suppliers to maintain
accurate product and pricing data . Recommend and help implement
process improvements
to increase efficiency and satisfaction. Perform additional projects or duties as assigned. Comply with
Hackensack Meridian Health’s
professional conduct and performance standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in
Business Administration
or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience: Minimum 3 years
in a
Purchasing Department
Experience in: Issuing purchase orders (POs) Vendor evaluation Contract/GPO compliance Working with
automated procurement systems Technical Skills: Proficiency in
Microsoft Office
and/or
Google Drive Familiarity with
EDI systems
and
GPO tools Soft Skills: Strong
written and verbal communication Excellent
customer service orientation High attention to detail and
problem-solving ability
