Job Title: Senior Buyer
Job Summary: As a key member of the Corporate Purchasing team, the Senior Buyer will take a lead role in managing and optimizing procurement activities across the organization. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this position is responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiations, and ensuring timely delivery of quality materials. The Senior Buyer will drive cost savings initiatives while maintaining strong vendor relationships and supporting overall supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process, ensuring accurate preparation and issuance of purchase orders. Oversee the evaluation and distribution of material specifications for procurement, ensuring timely and effective requests for quotations. Conduct detailed analysis of supplier quotations, recommending strategic adjustments to optimize cost, quality, and delivery. Analyze purchasing trends, historical data, and future forecasts to determine optimal Economic Order Quantities (EOQ) and improve supply chain capacity. Lead negotiations on material procurement and service contracts to achieve favorable pricing, delivery, and payment terms. Monitor and evaluate vendor performance, ensuring adherence to cost, quality, and delivery metrics while driving continuous improvement. Conduct supplier audits, site visits, and performance assessments to build reliable, long-term partnerships. Prepare and deliver reports on key metrics, such as material pricing, cost savings, supplier performance, and capacity challenges, to the Purchasing Manager. Drive cost-reduction initiatives, track procurement performance, and maintain documentation through regular reporting. Expedite orders and manage material flow to meet production demands and minimize delays. Collaborate with logistics and shipping teams to ensure alignment with production schedules and budgetary requirements.
Qualifications: 3-5 years of commercial buying experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills, with a proven track record of managing complex procurement activities. Proficiency in data analysis, cost modeling, and supplier performance evaluation. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; or 7-10 years of purchasing experience. Experience in the transformer, power equipment, or a related industry is highly desirable. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and procurement software.
