What You'll Do As a VDI Infrastructure Engineer, you will be an expert in architecting, designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining our company's virtual desktop platforms. Our VDI footprint consists of VMware Horizon deployed on-premises and in the cloud. This platform supports a wide range of business stakeholders and workloads, from general computing to resource-intensive development applications. The engineer will bring high-level expertise in VMWare Horizon, Windows, and Linux desktop OS administration, managing all VDI lifecycle aspects including provisioning, management, triage, monitoring, and decommissioning. Support spans across various Warner Bros. Discovery locations globally.
Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role
Architect, build, maintain, and support virtual desktop delivery platforms based on technical requirements.
Administer scalable virtual desktop infrastructure in private and public cloud environments.
Manage Horizon View desktop and application pools, and user entitlements.
Handle Tier 3 issues, providing advanced support and working with vendors as needed.
Provision and configure Horizon, UAG, connection servers, and VDI desktop images.
Assist with patching and vulnerability remediation.
Create and maintain documentation, staying updated on industry best practices.
Manage server hardware and storage solutions supporting VDI.
Participate in application integration design sessions.
Must Have Skills / Requirements
Experience with VMWare/Omnissa Horizon.
Build and support VDI environments.
Windows Desktop/Operating System experience.
Experience tuning Windows OS for VDI.
Cloud experience.
Experience with Omnissa/VMWare Horizon in Azure.
Nice To Have Skills / Preferred Requirements
Experience with vCenter and vSphere ESXi.
Scripting/coding automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
Experience with Azure cloud environments and Horizon Control Plane 2.0.
Knowledge of MySQL/MSSQL.
