Based in Palo Alto, the Recruiting Coordinator will be responsible for playing a critical role for the office and for the firm in supporting attorney talent acquisition, as well as facilitating attorney interactions and maintaining high morale. The focus of this exempt position will be on-campus recruiting at law schools, the Summer Program, judicial clerk, and lateral attorney recruiting. It will also help to build and maintain a respectful and collaborative culture through in-office events. This role reports to the firmwide Chief Recruiting Officer and work closely with the Palo Alto Hiring Partner, Partner-in-Charge, and Hiring Committee, as well as the San Francisco and Denver recruiting professionals, West Coast Professional Development Manager, and attorneys on various committees. Responsibilities include: Planning and managing the office’s overall recruitment efforts, including summer, new, and lateral associate recruiting. Playing an integral role in the Palo Alto office’s recruitment leadership and team. Acting as a liaison to summer associates and career services offices at select law schools. Assisting in preparing and managing summer program budget and calendar of events and collaborating with summer coordinators and hiring partner on execution. Coordinating and attending office social events, including summer program events. Arranging and coordinating the on-campus interview logistics for the office’s assigned schools and firmwide interview teams, including any hospitality suites, receptions, dinners, or on-campus recruiting-related events. Assisting in reviewing and selecting summer, new and lateral candidates’ applications for consideration by Hiring Committee. Directing all aspects of candidate visits and screening and callback interviews. Coordinating the offer process and organizing outreach and follow-up dinners and other events for lateral recruits and candidates from the office’s assigned schools. Planning and facilitating annual academic events and activities for the office’s assigned schools (i.e. Stanford Law School). Working with legal search firms and agencies on lateral associate hiring. Preparing and tracking annual office recruiting budget and maintaining proper recruiting records. Coordinating orientation and integration for new and lateral associates. Assisting in planning and attend Associates Committee, Diversity Committee, and Womens’ Committee meetings and assisting with programming, projects, and initiatives. Providing support for local Professional Development programs, including training sessions and mentor events. Attending regional professional recruiting group meetings and events. Qualifications: Must have initiative and exhibit independent thinking and creativity Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle high volume, and be a team player. Must be able to exhibit good judgment. Experience: A four-year college degree is required. A minimum of two years of event-planning and administrative experience, preferably in an office setting. Legal recruiting experience is preferred. Experience with an applicant tracking system (preferably ViRecruit) is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Gibson Dunn will consider for employment qualified Applicants with Criminal Histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of local law. The annual compensation range for this position is $75-90k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
