This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) , a student loan repayment program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements and submit your application within four months of appointment. The program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Duties include:

  • Attending on the Hematology/Oncology inpatient consult service, providing support to inpatient services, and serving as oncology/hematology attending on call.
  • Outpatient and inpatient duties such as seeing patients in clinics, supervising chemotherapy and infusion procedures, performing bone marrow biopsies, and participating in conferences.
  • Supervising hematology/oncology fellows from Kansas University Medical Center.
  • Opportunities for clinical trials, research, and administrative roles within the department.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (plus on-call).

Qualifications include:

  • U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruiting qualified citizens is not possible).
  • MD or equivalent degree from an accredited school.
  • Full, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any US State or territory.
  • Completed residency training approved by the VA or equivalent.
  • Board certification in Hematology and Oncology is preferred.
