Neurologist, HSS Department of Neurology
The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is recruiting a full-time Neuromuscular Neurologist to join the HSS Department of Neurology. This is a clinical position with teaching and academic responsibilities. Applicant must be an MD or DO who is BC/BE in Neurology and fellowship trained in neuromuscular medicine or clinical neurophysiology (EMG track).
The candidate will establish a practice centered around neuromuscular diseases. The candidate will see patients at both HSS Main Hospital in Manhattan and at HSS regional location in Long Island.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Evaluate and treat outpatients with neuromuscular diseases. Perform nerve conduction study and electromyography testing. Participate in limited inpatient neurology consult service and weekend/holiday calls. Perform other clinical duties as assigned by the Chief of Neurology. Provide teaching and supervisory duties for neuromuscular medicine fellows, residents, Advanced Practice Providers, and clinical staff as directed by the Chief of Neurology or representative. Provide administrative and patient care support and serve on departmental and/or institutional committees as directed by the Chief of Neurology, Physician-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer of HSS. Participation in weekly HSS Neurology Grand Rounds, Journal Club, and other academic conferences, as well as regular Departmental meetings. Enhance the recognition and reputation of the Department of Neurology by lecturing, serving on committees, engaging in research initiatives, and/or writing academic papers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO required Current Board Certification in Neurology Fellowship trained in neuromuscular medicine or clinical neurophysiology (EMG track). Active medical license in NY

Focusing on neuromuscular diseases, the Marcia Dunn and Jonathan SobelDepartment of Neurology at HSS provides comprehensive, compassionate, and prompt care to patients with mobility disorders. The Department runs several clinics, including neuromuscular clinic, ALS and MDA clinic, movement disorder clinic, and concussion clinic.
