Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements for appointment under the previous standard at initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens per VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school.
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the US.
  • Residency Training: Completion of an accredited residency program approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency must be approved by ACGME, AOA, or deemed equivalent by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
  • Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA residency programs are eligible to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and can only be appointed on a fee-basis.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Additional Requirement: Board certified in Neuroradiology.
  • Preferred Experience: Neuroradiology imaging experience.
  • Physical Requirements: Must meet physical standards, including a pre-placement physical exam, ability to lift 15-44 pounds, push, reach above shoulder, use fingers and both hands, walk and stand for extended periods, and have good depth perception and color discrimination. Hearing aid is permitted.

Duties

  • This is an open continuous announcement until September 22, 2025, with initial application cutoff on August 4, 2025, and subsequent cutoffs every two weeks.
  • Eligible applications received after the initial cutoff will be considered as vacancies become available.
