Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. VA physicians employed under previous standards at initial appointment are deemed to have met basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited
- Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school
- Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the US
- Residency Training: Completion of approved residency leading to eligibility for board certification
- Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), with restrictions
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Additional Requirements: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Physical Standards: Applicants must meet physical requirements, including a physical exam and drug testing
Duties
- This is an open continuous announcement until September 30, 2025, with initial and subsequent application cut-off dates
