What You Will Do As a Phlebotomist, you will demonstrates confidence and skill in the application and management of venipuncture in a highly specialized, complex collection environment. The hours of this position are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. The Opportunity Reviews laboratory schedule: resolves or verifies orders as complete in the electronic medical record Correctly identifies patient and record by name/date of birth Explains process and reassures patient and/or family member(s) Performs
venipuncture/finger
sticks per order Captures and reports important medical data to nurse/provider Responds quickly to syncopal episodes; notifies nurse/provider Processes, packages, and stores specimens for courier pick-up or mailing Orders and maintains adequate laboratory supplies Maintains a clean, organized environment demonstrating a commitment to infection/exposure control and quality assurance Terminally cleans lab at close of business Requirements High school diploma or GED Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience Knowledge of best practice guidelines and well-practiced in the safe handling of technical devices for procuring blood/urine specimens and capillary puncture Valid Indiana Driver’s license and automobile insurance All IHI employees are expected to enable multi-factor authentication via their personal smart phone/smart device in order to access IHI systems as a requirement of the role. The IHTC participates in national and international clinical research, including new infusion products and therapies, investigation of long-term outcomes, and the impact of associated conditions. The IHTC research program provides patients access to new therapies, and an opportunity to improve care. Our center has more than 50 clinical research projects involving bleeding disorders, sickle cell disease, thrombosis and more.
