Job Description

The position serves as a leader, motivator, and expert in the successful operation of all areas of Production and Sales across various departments:

  • Non-Perishable: grocery, dairy, frozen foods, healthy living, bulk foods, gift baskets
  • Perishable: produce, meat market, seafood market, floral
  • Food Service: kitchen, cafe, prepared foods, cooking school, bakery, deli, cheese departments

This role is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction, partner engagement, and achievement of company objectives, reporting directly to the General Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Make employment-related and business decisions using independent judgment, including strategies for products and departments, hiring, promoting, disciplining, and partner relations
  • Oversee multiple departments, including merchandising, product mix, and costs, via department managers
  • Direct, coordinate, and evaluate departmental operations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company standards regarding product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation
  • Supervise daily management of departments and merchandising efforts
  • Maintain vendor relations and communicate expectations clearly
  • Conduct employment interviews, performance appraisals, and gather partner feedback
  • Train and develop partners to enhance team performance
  • Provide exceptional customer service

Requirements

  • Strong supervisory and management skills across all departments
  • Long-term strategic and financial planning abilities
  • Bachelor's degree, with 1-2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency with automated reporting systems (inventory, food cost, scheduling, time & attendance, labor)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to innovate and champion new initiatives
  • Valuing diversity and handling stressful situations effectively
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate, and develop teams
