Job Description
The position serves as a leader and expert in the successful operation of all areas of Production and Sales across various departments:
- Non-Perishable: grocery, dairy, frozen foods, healthy living, bulk foods, gift baskets
- Perishable: produce, meat, seafood, floral
- Food Service: kitchen, cafe, prepared foods, cooking school, bakery, deli, cheese
This role is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction, partner engagement, and achievement of company objectives, reporting directly to the General Manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Making employment-related and business decisions using independent judgment, including hiring, promoting, disciplining, and resolving partner matters
- Managing multiple departments, including merchandising, product mix, costs, and supervising partners through department managers
- Providing overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations on product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation
- Supervising daily management of departments and merchandising
- Maintaining vendor relations and communicating expectations
- Conducting interviews, performance appraisals, and providing partner feedback
- Training and developing partners
- Providing excellent customer service
Requirements:
- Strong supervisory and management skills across all departments
- Long-term strategic and financial planning abilities
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (1-2 years related experience or training)
- Proficiency with automated reporting systems (inventory, food cost, scheduling, time & attendance, labor)
