We work as individuals, as team members, and as part of a growing and innovative law firm. We are seeking a Director of Operations to join the firm and become an integral part of our team.
The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day administrative, financial, and operational functions of the law firm. This role ensures the firm's support functions run smoothly, supports strategic goals, enhances efficiency, and enables attorneys to focus on legal practice. The ideal candidate will bring experience in law firm administration, financial management, HR, IT systems, and facilities operations.
Requirements And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, JD, or other advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of operations or legal administration experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of law firm finance, HR, and compliance.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
- Operations Management
- Lead and manage daily administrative operations of the firm.
- Develop and implement firm-wide policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Oversee practice support functions including legal assistants, paralegals, and administrative staff.
- Finance & Budgeting
- Partner with accounting to prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Monitor and control expenses and firm-wide cost-saving initiatives.
- Human Resources
- Oversee HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance reviews, and professional development.
- Coordinate with HR regarding insurance and benefits policies and renewals.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and firm policies.
- Technology & Systems
- Coordinate with IT staff and vendors to ensure the availability and security of systems and regarding technology upgrades and implementation of new tools.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Oversee insurance policies, conflict-check systems, and internal controls.
- Ensure firm compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations.
- Strategic Planning & Development
- Work with firm leadership to develop and execute strategic plans.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements.
- Support attorney and other timekeeper management with resource planning and performance metrics.
- Facilities & Vendor Management
- Manage office leases, space planning, and facility maintenance.
- Oversee vendor contracts.
Banner Witcoff offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), business-casual attire, and a friendly office environment. The salary range for this role is between $175,000 - $200,000. This is an exempt position. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Washington, D.C. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographical location, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
